Which Macs can run Muzzle?

Muzzle runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 12 or later. There is no Intel download. To check your Mac, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. See system requirements.

My download link expired or went to the wrong address

Request a new link at usemuzzle.com with the correct address.

macOS will not open Muzzle

Download a fresh copy from usemuzzle.com, drag Muzzle into Applications and open it from there. Do not change your Mac’s security settings to open it.

What does Muzzle install on my Mac?

Muzzle adds hooks to Claude Code and Codex, a git commit check and a local proxy that looks at selected agent traffic. HTTPS inspection uses a certificate stored in your login keychain. “Remove Muzzle from this Mac” in Settings takes all of it out again.

How does Muzzle update?

Muzzle updates itself in the background. When Update ready appears, choose Restart to update in the menu bar menu or at the top of the Muzzle window.

To update by hand, request a fresh installer from usemuzzle.com, quit Muzzle, replace it in Applications and reopen it.

How do I remove Muzzle?

  1. Open Settings and choose Remove Muzzle from this Mac.
  2. Reopen your terminal.
  3. After Muzzle quits, move Muzzle.app from Applications to the Trash.

Your settings, scans and logs stay in ~/Library/Application Support/Muzzle. Delete that folder only after you have removed the integrations.
