Privacy

What leaves your Mac, data requests and the companies that process it.

What does Muzzle send from my Mac?

Muzzle’s checks run on your Mac. Your protected values and the secrets it finds stay there. The app contacts us for update checks, the daily Threat Feed rules, licence checks (Pro) and, if you choose them, email confirmation, Threat Feed signals and the contact address. The privacy page lists each one.

Does Muzzle need an account?

Free needs no account. Pro through the Threat Feed needs a confirmed email address. Buying Pro uses the email you give at checkout.

How do I get a copy of my data, or have it deleted?

What Muzzle keeps on your Mac is in ~/Library/Application Support/Muzzle; delete that folder after you remove Muzzle. To stop Threat Feed signals, turn off Contribute to the Threat Feed.

For a copy or deletion of what we hold, contact support at the address below with the email address. We answer within one month.

How long do you keep my data?

It depends on the service. Download requests and enterprise quotes are kept for 24 months. Confirmed Threat Feed email registrations stay until you ask us to delete them. The full list is on the privacy page.

Who processes my data?

Cloudflare (hosting, database and email routing), Resend (email), Stripe (payments and tax) and Hetzner (EU hosting for analytics). Reddit receives ad measurement data described on the privacy page.

Reddit ads and cookies

Decline the cookie notice on the home page to keep the Reddit Pixel off. To also object to the ad click id sent with a download request, contact support at the address below.

Do you sign a data processing agreement?

Yes. Our data processing agreement applies to business customers of Pro without a signature.

How do I report a security issue?

Follow our disclosure policy. Use dummy data, never live credentials or other people’s data.
