What is the Threat Feed?

The Threat Feed is a set of shared rules. Every install downloads the signed rules once a day. Contributing is optional: when it is on, your Mac sends anonymous signals that help build those rules.

What does Contribute to the Threat Feed share?

Rule names, destination domains, the part of a request where something was found, injection fingerprints, and signals about trusted sites and cleared false alarms. Signals never contain your values, files, paths or code. Registration is linked to your confirmed email and a hashed device identifier. The full list is on the privacy page.

How do I get Pro through the Threat Feed?

1. Turn on Contribute to the Threat Feed in Settings → Plan.
2. Enter your email in Settings → Plan and choose Confirm.
3. Open the email we send and press Confirm.

Pro stays on while you keep contributing.

I did not get the confirmation email

Check spam for “Confirm your email for Muzzle”. If it is not there, choose Send again in Settings → Plan, or Change to fix the address.

The confirmation link expired

Choose Send again in Settings → Plan, then open the new link and press Confirm.

I confirmed my email but Muzzle still shows Free

Check that Contribute to the Threat Feed is on in Settings → Plan and that you pressed Confirm on the page the link opened. If it still shows Free, turn Contribute to the Threat Feed off and on again.

What happens if I turn contributing off?

Muzzle stops sending signals, and Pro through the Threat Feed ends on that Mac. A paid Pro key keeps working. To get Pro back, turn contributing on again and confirm your email if asked.

Pro through the Threat Feed stopped after I was offline

Pro through the Threat Feed needs to reach us at least once every 14 days. Reconnect and reopen Muzzle. If Pro does not come back, turn Contribute to the Threat Feed off and on again in Settings → Plan.

“Already confirmed on 3 Macs”

One email address works on up to 3 Macs. You cannot remove a Mac from it yourself yet; contact support at the address below and we will free a place.
